By ferry from Rockland is the best way. Bringing your car on the ferry is also the best way to get around the island. Give the ferry office a call and they can walk you through how to book.

PIA - Penobscot Island Air - also does some flights if you are interested in a more direct way / different times than the ferry.

Cape Air also flies to Rockland from Boston.

There is also a bus, the Concord Coach, that goes to and from Boston from the ferry in Rockland!

Not a ferry, but Brown’s Boatyard runs a skiff between the two on the thoroughfare.

Pack layers! Maine can have all seasons in a day. Shoes that are water repellant (rain boots) and shoes that good for walking on a rocky beach and into the water are ideal. Bring a sweatshirt for nighttime. Be prepared to take things off and put them on again if you’re out on an adventure.

A good book, and downloaded map of the island is also good to have for when cell and internet service is spotty.

Depending on the time of year, you might have lots of options! Or you may only have the market as an option. Calderwood Hall, Nebo Lodge, Amandina, The Landing, Turner Farm, and the market (us!) all offer something— the market is the most consistent. We have breakfast and lunch prepared foods to go and coffee. Check instagram and give businesses a call ahead of time! Hours can be wonky, especially in the off and shoulder seasons.

It can be pretty spotty for some carriers (especially Verizon). Take this as a time to unwind and disconnect! We have wifi in the inn, cottages, and market if needed. But we don’t recommend scheduling an important board meeting zoom whilst here.

We are a little under 2 miles from the ferry. 10 minute bike ride. 45 minute walk. 5 minute drive.
